Ministers in this country are very willing to do their jobs when it comes to voting raises for themselves. However, when the task involves getting their hands dirty with actual work, they are somewhat more reticent.
Enter Minister for Transport Shane Ross, who has so far consistently balked at calls for him to do something about the ongoing dispute at Dublin Bus. Since he is the minister for transport, it falls within the realm of possibility that he’d have at least a peripheral concern for the matter.
However, Mr. Ross said, somewhat naively, that he ‘can’t be the sugar daddy’ for the transport industry.
He’s now been referred to as a ‘cretin’ by some political foes, who see this as refusal to do the job he was elected to do.
