Mixed reactions to on-the-spot fines of up to a whopping €100 for failing to wear a face mask

There has been a very mixed reaction to hefty fines that are going to be imposed on the Irish public for failure to wear a face mask.

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has revealed that the Government are to introduce on the spot fines for failure to wear face coverings.

Announcing the decision, the Health Minister said that he will look to amend the public health act in order to introduce penalties for those who fail to comply with guidelines.

It is understood that those who fail to wear face masks in public settings will face fines between €20 to €100.

However it is believed that the new laws will not apply to gatherings in people’s homes.
