Mum’s urgent warning as son narrowly avoids losing leg in e-scooter accident

After an accident with an e-scooter in which the 12-year-old kid from Belfast nearly lost his leg, his mother has warned parents, saying her son is “lucky” not to have died, reports The Mirror.

On Wednesday, the child who was obsessed with scooters fell off his friend’s e-scooter and suffered severe damage to his legs.

He is also a member of The Ramp Yard, an indoor skatepark in Belfast, but he has never been permitted to own a battery-operated scooter.

Belfast Live adds that the youngster’s mother bought safety helmets and knee pads for her son to wear when he goes to the yard to scooter, but that ‘he is lucky he wasn’t killed’ after the boy got on the back of the electric scooter on the day of the tragedy, reports The Mirror.

She added: “My son was the only one out of his friend group that wasn’t allowed one of these because they are dangerous but he got on the back of one without my knowledge. And now I’m having to ring British Red Cross for wheelchairs this morning. I’m sickened,” reports The Mirror.
