A group of Irish junior doctors have collaborated in an effort to make this image go viral internationally in an effort to shame the Dublin Bus drivers over their 15% pay increase strike which has made life difficult for commuters, drivers and shop owners.
The photo firstly shows an Irish junior doctor working 72 hours a week after 5 years training starring on €30,000 a year.
Then the other side shows a typical Dublin Bus driver working half of that time with an average wage of circa €47,000 a year after a 6 week training course.
One 29-yr-old doctor in Dublin said:
“It’s absolute disgraceful what the Dublin Bus drivers are doing. It’s beyond a joke, they saw what happened with the Luas drivers and now they think it’s their time for a slice of the pie. They need a wakeup call. It’s everything for them and nothing for us. I’d like to see them doing my job for a day, I’d gladly do theirs with the salary they’re already on and they cosy shifts they’re on!’, he said.
