The Irish nanny formerly accused of murdering a one-year-old child in the States has arrived back home.
Her flight landed at Shannon Airport at 6:15am earlier today. Ms. McCarthy did not address any of the waiting reporters.
Ms. McCarthy spent just over two years in an US prison after being convicted of murdering the child she was looking after. New medical evidence that recently emerged in relation with the case, however, meant that the murder charge was dropped.
Family friend and local councillor Fergal Curtin has said that he hopes the family can now move on with their lives.
