According to the latest accounts for Applus Inspection Services Ireland Ltd, the directors of the firm running the National Car Test (NCT) contract disagree with the proposed non-compliance penalties by the Road Safety Authority.

They strongly refute the accusations made against the firm. Unfortunately, the company recorded a pre-tax loss of €981,010 last year, which is a significant drop from the previous year’s pre-tax profit of €1.099million, reports The Mirror.

The controversy surrounding the NCT contract continues, with Junior Transport Minister Jack Chambers recently expressing his dissatisfaction with the delays faced by motorists in getting the mandatory NCT.

The Fianna Fail TD said: “I think Applus need to pay serious penalties for this dysfunction and the non-performance of their contract,” reports The Mirror.

In their report, the directors wrote that they “acknowledge that the RSA has proposed penalties for non-compliance of contractual Service Level Agreement achievement”, reports The Mirror..
