There is excitement in Dublin Zoo after an Asian elephant calf has been born.
The new arrivals mother, Asha, gave birth on Monday evening to the female who weighs just under 70kg and reaches just under 1 metre.
Asha was the first born Asian elephant in The Zoo in 2007 and they are now celebrating her 1st calf.
Operations Manager, Gerry Creighton, said: “We’re like kids at Christmas…. New life is what we’re all about”.
The calf will join a herd of 8 Asian elephants, including father Upali.
Dublin Zoo are inviting people to come up with name suggestions.
