New Orleans braces itself for Hurricane Ida 16 years to the day after Hurricane Katrina

The USA’s gulf coast is bracing for Hurricane Ida, 16 years to the day after Hurricane Katrina.

Though it hasn’t yet made landfall, strong gusts and fast moving waters are already being felt. It’s expected to bring heavy rainfall and winds in excess of 100mph.

It’s understood that it could see an extremely strong storm surge that could see 10 to 15 feet.

The national hurricane centre say that the storm simply moved too fast to get people out of the danger zone and that is not on their side so the city must bunker down and try get through it as safely as possible.
