NPHET say they’re in favour of mandatory quarantine for those flying into the country

The National Public Health Emergency Team have said they’re in favour of a mandatory quarantine system for those who enter the country.

Speaking about the issue before Oireachtas Special Committee on Covid-19, Dr Ronan Glynn said that NPHET had previously recommended mandatory quarantine for people entering the country at the beginning of the pandemic.

Glynn also told the committee that NPHET is favour of avoiding non essential travel and he warned travel poses a very significant risk to suppression and maintenance of suppression of this disease in our country.

However he did say NPHET weren’t experts in stopping non essential travel but at the very least they wanted all non essential travel to be reduced as much as possible.
