British nurse Lucy Letby is to face a retrial on pending charges of trying to kill her daughter, reports RTE.

Letby, 33, was jailed for life after pleading guilty to the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of six others at the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015 and 2016.

However, the jury at her trial at Manchester Crown Court last month could not reach a verdict on six counts of attempted murder of five children.

Today the Crown Prosecution Service said it wanted to reopen the trial in the same court on an outstanding charge – that Letby tried to kill the baby girl, known as Baby Kay, in February 2016.

A tentative hearing is scheduled for June 10, 2024, before the same court, with an estimated duration of two to three weeks, reports RTE.

Latby attended the hearing via video link from a conference room at HMP New Hall in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

She sat behind the desk and spoke only to confirm her name and to make sure she could see and hear the proceedings.
