O’Gorman means business and accuses the Govt of breaking election childcare pledges

The Green Party has accused the Government of going back on its pre-election commitments regarding childcare, arguing that recent funding and policy announcements do not match what was promised to voters, reports Breaking News.

The criticism comes after the Government unveiled a €480 million package aimed at supporting childcare and early learning infrastructure.

However, the Green Party said the measures, particularly around childcare fee caps, do not provide enough relief for families already struggling with high costs, reports Breaking News.

Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman, who previously served as Minister for Children, said the Government is falling short of its stated ambitions.

He argued that there must be a clear pathway to reducing childcare costs to a maximum of €200 per month per child by the end of the current term, adding that insufficient additional funding has been allocated to the National Childcare Scheme in the latest plans, reports Breaking News.
