One man has sadly died, and another one was injured when a car slipped off a pier and entered the water in Arranmore Island on Saturday.
It is understood that the deceased was a 26-year-old male from the locality. He was the driver of the car.
The second man managed to escape from the sinking vehicle and was rescued by locals.
Authorities say that the driver might have been attempting to turn the car around on or near the pier when it suddenly began sliding down.
