A building in Bilzen, Belgium that was designated to become an asylum housing centre has been destroyed in a fire and it is speculated that it was deliberate act of arson.

Belgian daily newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reports that a local police spokesman has said

“There are material indications that it is definitely a matter of arson. “There are one or more offenders. The investigation has been in full swing since last night.”

The destroyed building was set to be converted into a temporary asylum centre by mid-December as other migrant centres across Belgium are already over capacity.

There had been popular protests against the establishment of the migrant centre in the town in past several weeks, but they were ignored by the Belgian government.

As in Ireland, the government in Belgium, has reacted to the never-ending flow of migrants, not by attempting to stem the tide but by using taxpayer money to convert more hotels and other buildings into housing centres.
