The investigation remains ongoing into the alleged rape of an 18-yr-old Ukrainian refugee in Germany.
An 18-yr-old Ukrainian refugee who fled the war in her country to Germany has been gang raped by two other refugees on board a hotel ship used by authorities to temporarily house asylum seekers.
The two alleged rapists both came to Germany from Ukraine and are in possession of Ukrainian passports but are originally from Iraq and Nigeria.
Police launched an investigation into the alleged assault which took place on March 6th and arrested the two men aged 37 and 26 who remain in custody, Düsseldorf prosecutor’s office confirmed.
The unnamed Ukranian teen has since fled to Poland saying she no longer feels safe in Germany.
Attacks on women and girls, including rapes and murders have increased dramatically since 2015 when then Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the country’s boarders to mass migration from the Middle East and Africa.
Ireland is preparing to welcome as many as 100,000 Ukranian refugees and the Taoiseach has said that authorities will not vet or carry out any background or security checks on those entering the country.
