Local authorities have confirmed that multiple fatalities have occurred as a result of a gunman’s actions inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, earlier today.
Police said that at least 42 people were taken to hospital, though the actual number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed.
The gunman is understood to have died during a shootout with a SWAT team that entered the premises to rescue hostages.
Pulse is a well-known gay-friendly venue in the area.
No motive for the attack has yet emerged.
