Outrageous: New proposed government legislation could soon see families having their child benefit payments cut if their child has a poor school attendance




There could be widespread controversy soon as the government ar considering introducing a new legislation that will child benefit payments being deducted if a child has a poor school attendance.

The new proposal comes to light after a recent draft was drawn up which shows that a number of ministers are behind the scheme that would see the issue of poor school attendances across the country.

Reports say the government are fully committed to introducing a new document proposes that would include reforming the way that poor school attendance is monitored, in turn make child benefit payments connected to it.

The new measure has already been slammed by a number of opposition TD’s who say the outrageous proposal is “a direct copy from the heartless policies introduced across the Irish Sea by the British Tory party. Many also say the plan is another form of penny pinching by the new government as the scandalous legislation would reportedly save the state €100m a year.

However the government could face a major obstacle in getting their plan off the ground because such a system would be in direct violation of EU rights.
