Over 18,000 Ukrainian children now in the Irish education system as shortage of school places intensifies

Ireland is facing multiple crises, many of which, such as the housing crisis are unprecedented in their scale and scope but now we are also facing a serious shortage of school places for children.

This crisis is unsurprising as mass migration into Ireland continues unabated and recent figures released by the the Department of Education showed that over 18,000 Ukrainian children alone, were currently in primary and post-primary schools in the country.

The shortage of school places also comes as other public services such as the availability of GPs and timely access to medical treatments in general are also under huge strain.

Despite all of these crises, driven to some extent or another, by the government’s open door migration policy and majority of Irish citizens supporting stricter controls on migration, the government shows no intention to clamp down in a serious manner on huge numbers of migrants settling in the country.
