The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said that he is confident that 80% of adults will receive at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by June.
Speaking to RTE’s Morning Ireland programme, Varadkar said based on certain assumptions on supply chains and if they are to be correct Ireland could be vaccinating 250,000 people a week before rising to 300,000 after that.
The Tanaiste also said the Government would be in a better position to make decisions once everyone over 60 and those under 60 with underlying conditions are vaccinated.
Varadkar told the programme once those particular groups are vaccinated it will be 98% of the job” in terms of deaths and hospitalisations.
