In the midst of the “unprecedented wildfires” sweeping across Los Angeles, Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal have spoken of their sadness at losing the homes in which they reared their children, reports Breaking News.

As strong winds dispersed embers from the initial Palisades fire, which has burned almost 16,000 acres, thousands of firefighters were working to contain it and seven other fires around southern California that may endanger more homes and lives.

The city has declared a state of emergency due to the wildfires, forcing at least 70,000 people to leave their homes as a dense cloud of smoke and ash engulfed the metropolitan region, reports Breaking News.

According to the most recent information, a new fire has started in the Hollywood Hills, endangering several popular tourist destinations, including the Walk of Fame.

The US socialite Hilton watched the news with her family, including her son Phoenix and daughter London, whom she shares with husband Carter Reum, and expressed her heartbreak at seeing her Malibu house “burn to the ground on live TV.”

“This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London,” she said in a post on Instagram, reports Breaking News.

“While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe,” reports Breaking News.

It occurs months after Hilton claimed that “so many of my favourite things were destroyed” when a trailer on the set of her Bad Bitch Academy music video caught fire.

In the meanwhile, American actor Crystal and his spouse Janice have acknowledged that the fire damaged their 46-year-old property, reports Breaking News.

“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing,” the couple said in a joint statement given to the PA news agency, reports Breaking News.

“Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this,” reports Breaking News.
