A person who is understood has just returned from West Africa is tonight being tested for Ebola at the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast.
The patient has already tested positive for malaria, and further tests are being carried out to determine whether or not this person is infected with Ebola as well.
The patient is currently being kept in isolation at the facility.
A spokesman for the hospital has said that the risk for the public is ‘very low’ and that a further update will be given when the test results are available.
