Jumping onto the exorbitant pay rise bandwagon kickstarted by Luas drivers, Irish Rail staff are now following suit with a pay rise demand of up to 25%.

A letter, dated today and addressed to the Human Resources director at Iarnród Éireann, expressly states that workers are looking for significant pay rises on foot of the recent agreement to grant Luas drivers incremental pay increases of 18.7%.

The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) further states that DART drivers will not comply with the company’s plans to increase the frequency of DART services from 15 to 10 minutes unless more money is put on the table.

The overall pay increase sought is 25%.
