Police in the UK who are investigating the disappearance of a woman and her new born baby from hospital, have confirmed that they have found a body in a gorge last night.
They also say that the family of the missing woman named as Charlotte Bevan, who vanished from Bristol Maternity Hospital on Tuesday night with her daughter, Zaani Tiana, have been informed of the discovery in the nearby Avon Gorge.
It is believed that 30 year old Charlotte has not been seen since leaving the maternity unit on Tuesday night, the last sighting of Charlotte and her new born is thought to have been on CCTV footage within the hospital showing her leaving coatless and carrying Zaani wrapped in just a blanket.
Avon and Somerset Police have since released a statement in which they say: “We can confirm that the body of a woman has been found in the Avon Gorge in Bristol this evening. Formal identification will not take place until tomorrow.“The family of Charlotte Bevan, who was reported missing last night, have been informed of this development.
“The police helicopter remains in the area to assist the continuing searches by police officers on the ground.”
