The chair of the National Public Health Emergency Team’s Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group professor Philip Nolan has revealed that the country’s Reproductive number has risen in the last week.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing professor Nolan confirmed that the country’s R number now stands between 0.7 and 0.9 compared to 0.6 at the end of October.
Nolan who confirmed that there is about 20 hospital admissions a day said that the latest modelling has shown that there has been an increase in social contacts in recent days.
He added that case numbers were declining by 5 to 7% a day in recent weeks but have since stopped declining.
