Two men who abducted and then took turns raping a vulnerable woman have been jailed for a total of 23-years at Newcastle Crown Court.
Syed Ahmed (22) and Najirul Miah (22) were lurking around Sunderland City centre in the early hours of the morning searching for women or girls to prey on when they came across the victim, who had been separated from her friends.
The two men then offered to take her home and instead took her to a secluded spot and took turns raping the woman before robbing and then abandoning her.
During the attack the court heard that the two men told their victim “you are going to have to do this”, “be a good woman” and “do as we tell you”.
Ahmed and Miah were jailed for 11 and 12 years respectively for rape, false imprisonment and theft while Jodie Menzies, Ahmed’s girlfriend at the time of the rape was given a suspended prison sentence for contacting the victim and trying to force her to drop the charges.
