A man in the UK who received an overpayment of 2p from the government received a letter demanding that he repay it or “further action” would be taken against him.
According to the Metro, Damien Dove received a housing benefit for one week and received a letter to say that he had been overpaid 2p. Mr. Dove, who works as a security guard said that he felt it had probably cost the government more than 2p to send the letter out but when he rang the office that sent the letter, he was told that it was a genuine demand and that he would have to pay the 2p back.
Mr. Dove said “I’ve worked all my life near enough apart from a few months and basically I’m getting penalised doing this for collecting a benefit for one week.”
