The tragic upward trend in road deaths continues, as two men died in overnight crashes around the country.
A 26-year-old motorcyclist sadly lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision in the Pigeons area of Athlone, Co Westmeath. Three other vehicles were involved.
Separately, a young man in his 20s lost his life in a single-vehicle collision in Lurgans, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
Gardai are asking witnesses to both incidents to contact them.
