Sky watchers and enthusiasts saw some amazing sights last night when the sunsets seen around the country were a result of a full moon called Thunder Moon.
It takes its name from old Native American tribes, which used the Moon to mark the beginning and the end of the seasons. July is traditionally a month when severe thunderstorms occur across the American plains, hence the name. Some tribes would refer to it as the Buck Moon, because it is the season when buck’s antlers experience a growth spurt.
