The much debated issue of roaming charges will inch one step closer to resolution, as the charges incurred by users roaming around the EU will become significantly lower from today.
Mobile users will pay no more than an extra 5c per minute for calls, 2c per text message, and 5c per megabyte of data, when using their handsets around the European continent.
Mobile operators across Europe fought a fierce battle to hang on to the lucrative charges, but a ruling by the European Parliament put an end to the operators’ wishes.
Roaming charges will be banned outright in the EU on June 15th, 2017.
