The Dublin Bay south by-election will take place this Thursday, 8th July to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Fine Gael’s former Housing minister Eoghan Murphy.

However, a row between Aontú and RTE has been developing over the party’s exclusion from “all of the bye-election broadcast debates” according to Aontu’s official website.

Having received over 50,000 votes in the last General election, beating People before Profit, Aontú Dublin Bay South candidate said;

“RTE is the National Broadcaster. It has a particular responsibility to to ensure that election coverage is fair, democratic, inclusive and unbiased. However RTE has decided to exclude only one Dáil political party out of the eight Dáil parties contesting this bye-election. This is an incredibly arbitrary decision”.
