A second child has died while in the custody of US immigration officers, it has been confirmed.
The death of an 8-yr-old boy from Guatemala on Christmas Eve follows the passing of a 7-yr-old girl from the same country earlier this month.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the treatment of immigrants while in custody.
Officers will now implement a range of medical checks on children who are under the supervision of the US Customs and Border Protection agency.
