A shopping centre security officer, Gavin Plumb, is set to stand trial next year, accused of an alleged plot to kidnap and murder former This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby.

The 36-year-old from Harlow pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting murder and incitement to commit kidnap during a short hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The charges suggest that Plumb planned to assemble a “kidnap and restraint kit” and encouraged a third party to travel to the UK to carry out the alleged offences. Despite his pleas, Plumb was remanded into custody by Judge Mary Loram KC, reports RTE.

The trial date has been fixed for June 24 next year. As the case continues to unfold, the shocking allegations against Plumb have sent ripples through the entertainment industry and beyond.
