The dreadful specter of homelessness spread its wings far and wide across the capital last night, as an all-time high of 168 people were found sleeping rough in Dublin.
The figure (which does not include the 60 people without a bed in Merchants Quay Ireland’s night café) represents a 32% increase on the same time last year.
Figures released by the Dublin Simon Community earlier today revealed that almost 60% of people living in emergency accommodation have been homeless for over two years.
The organisation also highlights that requests for mental health support services has shot up 70%.
