Oscar winner, Kerry’s Jessie Buckley has been slammed by some on social media when she excluded Ireland from saying it was Mother’s Day here on Sunday as well.
When Buckley won her Oscar, during her acceptance speech she said:
” Today is Mother’s Day in the UK”.
She didn’t say “UK and Ireland”.
Some social media users are saying it was profound that she didn’t mention Ireland too, did she forget, did she know, did she care.
Others said that Buckley, now living in Norfolk, sees life more from an English perspective than Irish , given her husband and daughter are both English.
Either way, it drew some criticism from an otherwise positive speech.
