Former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar poses for a photo with former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi while attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Varadkar attended talks by Ms. Pelosi, former US President Bill Clinton, and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz at the United Centre.
When Mr. Varadkar was the Taoiseach, he had several meetings with Ms. Pelosi.
He greeted her in 2019 when she was in Ireland and gave a speech at Dáil Éireann, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Varadkar seems to be an observer in Chicago, despite the fact that he is accustomed to taking an official part at significant international events.
According to reports, Ms. Pelosi played a significant role in the backroom manoeuvring that finally forced US President Joe Biden to resign so that his vice president could challenge Donald Trump in November’s election, reports Breaking News.
Despite the unity on display at the DNC, Ms. Pelosi has acknowledged that she hasn’t talked to Mr. Biden since he withdrew from the race.
Leo Varadkar, a TD for Dublin West, has said that he will end his political career at the next general election, reports Breaking News.
The 45-year-old has not yet stated his future course of action. He did, however, acknowledge receiving several offers.
