If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to batten down the hatches, get the bread in and be extra vigilant on the roads as Storm Ciara could present wind, heavy rain and even snow over the coming days.

Weather forecasters have issued warnings of dire weather conditions, as Storm Ciara arrives with snow, hail, and winds of up to 110km/h.

Forecasters also warned of the likelihood of coastal flooding due to the combination of Spring tides and heavy rain, particularly along southern, western and northwestern coasts.

Very wet and windy weather will be widespread today with possible snow tomorrow, Monday in high lying places.

People are advised to be extremely careful while out on coastal areas or on motorways that have crosswinds. Authorities say people should be vigilant when out and about in Storm Ciara with people being asked to share this information with their friends.
