The impact of the incoming ‘Storm Ciara’ will be felt across the whole of Ireland and the UK the Met Office has warned and Met Éireann have issued a Status Orange warning for every county in the Republic of Ireland.
Forecasters have furthered warned that there could be damage to buildings and a “good chance” of power cuts Sky News has reported.
Winds are expected to reach 65-80km/h with gusts around coastal areas reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h.
There is also a significant risk of coastal flooding especially along western and north-western coasts Met Éireann has warned.
The Status Orange wind warning for the entire country is in effect from 05:00 Sunday 09/02/2020 to 12:00 Sunday 09/02/2020 and a Status Yellow rainfall warning is in effect for Ireland from 12:00 Saturday 08/02/2020 to 15:00 Sunday 09/02/2020.
