Storm rage: Desmond’s power strikes down the country

One of the fiercest storms in recent memory, Desmond shows no sign of abating.

With a plethora of weather warnings in effect across the country, blacked out households, impassable roads, and transportation hubs disrupted, the storm’s rage can be felt everywhere today.

Desmond has been on the rampage over Ireland for the best part of 18 hours, and it’s showing no signs of diminishing in power anytime soon.

Donegal, Mayo and Galway are expected to bear the brunt of the savage weather system, though the storm’s effects will also be quite intense across Clare and Kerry. Higher ground in Limerick, north Tipperary, Roscommon, Leitrim, and western Cavan will see a lot of rain indeed.

Citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel and to stay indoors until the worst has passed.
