Student (21) takes his own life allegedly after receiving torrent of online abuse for leading protest against a drag queen event

The President of the conservative University of Queensland’s Liberal National Club is thought to have committed suicide on Monday after a video of him leading a protest against a drag queen event for small children at a public library went viral.

Gavin Wilson (21), who was himself gay, received a deluge of abuse online after footage of him standing in front of one of the “drag queens” (men dressed as a caricature of women) who calls themselves “Diamond Good-Rim” who was there to lead a sing-along for children.

Drag queens reading stories to children has been popularised in recent years to teach toddlers and primary school aged kids about progressive gender ideology.

Wilson along with as many as a 20 other protestors chanted “Drag queens are not for kids” during the event at Brisbane Square Library last Sunday.

Twitter outrage was so intense that even friends and families and some classmates of Wilson were contacted with abusive messages about the young student while keyboard social justice warriors launched a campaign to force the University of Queensland to expel him.

Following the footage of the protest going viral and the explosion of online bullying Wilson was tragically found dead at 7 AM local time in South Brisbane on Monday, just 12 hours after the event.
