Strike action at Oberstown Youth Detention Centre now seems inevitable, after talks between management and unions broke down without agreement yesterday.
It is understood that a series of proposed work stoppages had been postponed until the outcome of the talks, but union officials representing staff withdrew from the meeting at the Workplace Relations Commission.
Staff have said that their safety and the safety of the residents is compromised on a daily basis, due to the lack of facilities at Oberstown.
