The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said that nightclubs won’t be able to reopen for quite sometime.
Speaking following the announcment of the Government’s Covid-19 vaccine passport system, Varadkar said nightclubs won’t be able to operate as nightclubs under the phased reopening of the hospitality sector.
However despite the warning, the Tanaiste did provide some hope for owners of nightclubs saying they will be allowed to operate as licensed venues with six to a table and table service only.
Although Varadkar has poured cold water on the prospect of nightclubs reopening in the immediate future, the Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin did state pilot events will be held at such venues at a later date.
