
Another 67 cases of Covid-19 and no new deaths were reported to by the Department of Health on Friday evening.
In Ireland, a total of 26,995 Covid-19 cases and 1,774 Covid-related deaths have been confirmed.
In a statement, Dr. Ronan Glynn, acting chief medical officer, said cases have increased across the country this week.
RTE reports that Glynn said: “We must continue to do all we can to avoid a return to where we were in March and April.”
Dr. Glynn said there was also an increase in the average number of contacts for confirmed cases to six.
He urged people to keep their social contacts low to limit the spread of this disease.
