
There is a flood risk across 17 counties as heavy rain is forecast to fall on already saturated ground.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for all of Leinster, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Tipperary, and Waterford, reports RTE.
The advisory will be in effect from 11pm tonight until 11pm tomorrow night, marking a significant expansion of the warning first issued yesterday.
Forecasters have warned of possible flooding, poor visibility, and challenging travel conditions in these areas, which are already experiencing high river levels, reports RTE.
Strong and gusty south-easterly winds will also affect five counties, exacerbating the conditions.
Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, and Dublin are under a Status Yellow wind warning, with Met Éireann cautioning against wave overtopping during high tides, reports RTE.
The wind warning will run from 11pm tonight until 1pm tomorrow afternoon.
These dual warnings affect eastern regions of the country that have already been hit hard by flooding in recent weeks, reports RTE.
Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain and snow warning has been issued for Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo, effective from 2am tomorrow until 2pm.
Met Éireann said heavy rain could transition to sleet or snow, potentially causing poor visibility and difficult travel conditions, reports RTE.
In Northern Ireland, a Status Yellow ice warning expired at 10am this morning, after the UK Met Office warned that wintry showers followed by clear skies would create icy conditions, reports RTE.
