The good people of Athlone call for aid as resistance to migrant plantation goes on, gov plans dumping 1,000 foreign men in their community

The people of Athlone are continuing their staunch resistance to the government’s planned migrant plantation in Lissywollen, where it intends to dump over 1,000 foreign men.

Roderick O’Gorman’s Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) has ignored West Meath County Council, which voted to seek an injunction against the building of the so-called “asylum centre”.

In October DCEDIY released a statement detailing their plans as such:

“The site being developed at Lissywollen will provide tented and modular accommodation for international protection applicants,” they said.

“Work to enable provision of accommodation at this site will commence soon and the first residents will be accommodated about 5 weeks after works commence.”

“Accommodation will be provided in phases, starting with approximately 100 residents, and over several phases, increasing to up to 1000 residents.”

Gardai have deployed their heavy gang to intimidate and suppress the locals protests but have so far been unsuccessful.

It is feared however, the government will order the Gardai to engage in direct violence against the community as was seen elsewhere in places such as Newtownmountkennedy, where disgraceful scenes shocked the world on social media but were mostly ignored by Irish legacy media.

Some have speculated that the reason Gardai have not been ordered to go on all out assault against the peaceful protestors in Athlone, as they have elsewhere, is due to the looming General Election on November 29th.
