Three police officers hailed for their heroic actions after saving a woman from a submerged car in Co Fermanagh

Three police officers have been hailed for the actions after they saved a woman from a submerged car in Co Fermanagh.

It is understood the three officers saved the woman after the vehicle she was travelling in entered the water at Muckros Pier on the Boa Island Road in Kesh.

Police say the alarm was raised after a car was seen entering the water at approximatley 10:30pm on Saturday night.

It is believed two of the officers responding to the incident dove into the lake and rescued the woman from the car, whilst another officer attending the incident also jumped into the lake to check and see if anyone else was inside the vehicle.

Police investigating the incident say the woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile the officers involved also received treatment in hospital.
