Dublin is well known for its traffic woes, and a bus strike is not going to make things any easier.
There is a markedly increased number of private vehicles across the capital, as all buses remain idle at their depots today, in the first day of a 48-hour long strike action over pay and conditions.
To further compound the problem, a fault on the Luas system has halted trains between Brides Glen and Carrickmines.
Several minor collisions have been reported also, on a day of commuter misery.
The strike will end 12.01am on Saturday. Four more days of industrial action are planned, if the unions’ demands are not met.
