Gardaí in Cork have confirmed this afternoon that they are still conducting an investigation into the tragic death of an 11-year-old school boy in the city last night.
The investigation comes after Emergency services were called to an incident at house in the Boreenmanna Road area of the city at approximately 8pm last night.
Upon arrival they found the 11-year-old boy in critical condition in an upstairs bedroom. It is believed the young boy was quickly rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.
The HSE have also said they are providing supports at a primary school on the southside of the city today in the wake of the tragic death.
