The Brennan family from Kiltimagh, Co Mayo have mixed emotions tonight after their family is safe but their house is gone.
A gorse fire which started over one mile away saw a flame catch onto the thatch roof of the 5-bed home.
Speaking to RTE News, Bernice Brennan told of the family’s devastation but how she’s happy that they are all safe and well.
Emergency services have warned the public to be vigilant of such gorse fires and also to report anything they see as suspicious behaviour.
