
A man in his 40s has died following a road crash in Co Cork, reports Breaking News.
The collision involved a car and a motorcycle and took place on the N73 near Mitchelstown, Co Cork, at around 1.40pm on Sunday.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner has been informed and the body was taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem will be carried out, reports Breaking News.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel as a precaution.
No other injuries were reported, reports Breaking News.
The road was examined by technical experts and has since reopened.
Earlier, a young boy died after being hit by a car near Ballina in Co Mayo, reports Breaking News.
The child pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 11.20am on the N59 at Eskeragh, Crossmolina.
Gardaà investigating both incidents are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage from either location to make it available, reports Breaking News.
