A Ukrainian official has warned Russia to expect further attacks ‘deeper and deeper’ into its territory.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian military intelligence agency, did not hide his utter hatred for the enemy during an interview with US television network ABC.
Russia’s latest humiliating defeat saw the elimination of up to 400 conscripts in one magnificent strike by a US-supplied HIMARS weapon. The conscripts, who had only just arrived at the front line, had been housed in a building where piles of ordnance were also being stored.
Also, satellite images revealed that this particular building, sited in the eastern city of Makiivka, had stood alone in the middle of a crossroads, offering an obvious target for Ukrainian gunners. Four HIMARS rockets struck shortly after midnight on New Year’s Eve, utterly demolishing the building and causing a devastating explosion that killed everyone inside.
Ukrainian commanders joked afterwards that their opponents appear not to have grasped the awesome power and range of the HIMARS platform.
