New figures show that so far this year the country is spending an average of 1.88 million euros per day on accommodation seeking international protection (IP) at centres across the country, reports Breaking News.
According to Integration Minister, Roderick O’Gorman, International Accommodation Service (IPAS) spending on accommodation services will be €617 million in the year ending 24 November.
The expenditure represents an average daily expenditure of €1.88 million and provides an incentive for private accommodation providers across the country, reports Breaking News.
The expenditure represents a 73% increase out of the €356 million spent by IPAS on housing services in the 12 months to 2022. At the end of June this year, the housing bill for IP applicants was €301.8 million and has since increased to €617 million.
The average daily expenditure on IP accommodation in 2023 was €1.88 million, compared to last year’s average daily expenditure of €975,342, reports Breaking News.
